Combining Dieting and Exercise Effectively
Losing weight is a serious goal for millions of men and women all over the world. However, losing weight can be a sticky subject for a lot of people. Many people find it difficult to lose weight. Others find it difficult to keep it off. Some even find that they experience a lot of negative side effects when they lose weight. It’s important to remember that losing weight is basically dependent on your caloric intake being less than your caloric expenditure.
The best way to achieve this calorie goal is a combination of reducing your caloric intake while also increasing your caloric expenditure. The former can be done through dieting and the latter can be done through exercise. Combining dieting and exercise effectively is generally considered the best way to lose weight.
If your only weight loss strategy is dieting, you can end up eating less than a healthy amount, causing you to lose some of the nutrients necessary for a healthy person. If your only weight loss strategy is exercise, you may end up increasing your caloric intake as you increase your caloric expenditure. This isn’t necessarily unhealthy (your respiratory system and muscle tone will improve), but may not necessarily result in weight loss.
Dieting in conjunction with exercise really has two components. First, you must reduce your caloric intake to a healthy level. In general, 2000 calories per day is a good starting point, but you should consult a physician to find out how many calories per day are healthy for you. Second, you should adjust your diet so that the calories you eat are healthy calories. If you reduce your caloric intake but still get most of your calories from fat, you are unlikely to lose weight. You should be sure not to reduce your caloric intake more than recommended by your doctor; this can make the exercise portion of your weight loss regimen difficult.
As for the exercise, there are also two main components. First, you should be burning calories by doing cardiovascular activities three to five times per week. A cardiovascular activity is simply something that increases your heart rate for an extended period of time. You should also add a light weight training program to your exercise. This will turn some of the fat stored in your body to muscle. When combining a weight lifting program with dieting, you should focus on small weights and a high number of repetitions so as to avoid adding too much muscle mass (which won’t help you lose weight). Effectively combining dieting and exercise will have you at your desired weight faster than any miracle drug or diet fad on the market.
